Who Wrote Shakespeare? by Eric Idle

Anonymous’ is a film that advances the theory that Shakespeare didn’t write Shakespeare’s plays! It has been heavy criticised for totally ignoring all the facts: the New York Times called it, “a vulgar prank on the English literary tradition, a travesty of British history and a brutal insult to the human imagination”. If you really want, you can see it in English at Nuovo Olimpia (details). But first read this funny article in the New Yorker by Eric Idle (of Monty Python fame)! It’s packed with irony illustrating the dangers of playing fast and loose with historical truth.
