A British journalist's view of Italy
Girlfriend in a Coma is a film about what’s right and what’s wrong with Italy. It features Bill Emmott, ex-editor of The Economist, and is based on his book Good Italy, Bad Italy.
It came into the public eye when, amid accusations of censorship, a screening at Rome’s MAXXI Gallery was cancelled.
The film includes a lot of interviews with Italians, most of whom are important public figures. Some of these spoke in English and I was very interested to hear the range of abilities.
It also contains some horrifying statistics about how poorly Italy is doing in the world. Statistics that are not well known here in Italy.
You can read more about it on the dedicated site or download it for a small fee from L’Espresso.
