OALD for Mac

New version out now

If you use the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary on a Mac, it’s time to upgrade! Just out in the Mac App Store is a new streamlined version of the best learner’s dictionary around. It replaces the old CD-ROM version which was bundled with the paper dictionary, but which was, and still is, terribly slow, buggy and ugly.

All the extras—iWriter, Topics, Activities, Resources and Genie—are gone, and since these are sometimes very useful I’m keeping my old OALD on my computer. But I’ll be using the new fantastically responsive version to look up words.

Don’t forget, though, that the on-line version of the OALD is free to use and that you can consult it directly from the sidebar in this site.
