The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is in its last week. Hurry, hurry, hurry!

Adapted by Rebecca Gilman from the novel of the same name and staged by the English Theatre of Rome at the John Cabot University. A rare chance to see theatre in English in Rome.

JCU is also screening the 1968 film version of the novel.

Carson McCullers’ first novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter tells the story of deaf man, John Singer, and the people he meets in a small southern mill town. Published in 1940, it was an immediate success and is now considered to be a masterpiece of twentieth century American literature. Get it on Amazon.

Peter Brook at the Teatro Valle Occupato

A great British director in Rome

Peter Brook is one the great theatre directors of the twentieth century. His 1970 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream made theatre history.

On Friday April 12 at 8pm the Teatro Valle Occupato is screening 'The Tightrope', a documentary about Brook by his son, Simon Brook. The film will be followed by a public debate with Peter Brook.
